DESSERT COOKIE

Having caught the eyes and ears of tastemakers with ‘DEVIL’, Dessert are back with ‘Cookie’ – a genre defying and irresistibly fresh track by the LA trio. True to form, ‘Cookie’ deftly combines organic and electronic elements with Dessert’s experimental production style. The track opens with a spooky 80s-inspired synth, which is quickly interrupted by staccato vocals and broken percussion. Jazzy horns are cut with violins, clicks, shuffles and the intermittent sample of a baby laughing to create an unnerving but infectious sound bed. If this wasn’t surprising enough, the final verse of ‘Cookie’ moves into a lullaby-style section complete with xylophone and harp – eerily calling to mind the artwork which accompanies the track. What holds ‘Cookie’ together, however, is the production, which is crisp, sharp and highly stylised - not far from the more experimental tracks of Bonzai and Mura Masa. ‘Cookie’ is accompanied by a homemade video, accessible via http://heaven.live/-HM
